2018 has come and gone and somehow I blogged a whole 4 times… 4!! yikes! even though I attended and photographed over 15 weddings! So where have I been? Well… not blogging that’s for sure… and also only dipping into social media when I’ve talked myself into it. In July I left my job working from home for an amazing non-profit with the belief that maybe I’d gain back some degree of work/life balance. Somehow that plan didn’t work and I still spent the end of 2018 up until 3AM editing and plugging away on the computer most night. So when I’ve had a free moment, though everything in the photography world tells me “blog more”, “post more”, “network more”, “do more”, “more more more” I’ve decided to do exactly the opposite.
Aside from serving my current couples and clients well…. I’m taking a step back from “building my brand”. It’s the holy grail of the wedding photography world (I suppose for all small businesses really) but right now I’m doing my best to take care of the couples who have trusted me with their memories and also building and growing two beautiful little people.
I’ll still be booking weddings for 2019 and 2020… but in the hopes of reaching that sweet work/life balance (do mom’s even know what that is?!?) I’m only taking on additional couples August – December of 2019 as my summer is completely booked! I’m looking forward to 2019 and turning 35 soon (this month!) but also thinking 2019 will be a time for me to stop spreading myself so thin. .. because I really miss reading books and watching netflix with that handsome hubs.
